WHAT CAN WE EXPECT? #2

Our National Calamities are Tied to our Defiance of God!

God is the Judge: he puts down one, and sets up anotherin His handis a cup(Ps 75:7)

The wildfires that struck suburban California killed 20 people, destroyed 2,600 homes, burned 660,000 acres and did over $2 billion in property damage. This disaster will be measured, "not by the number of acres burned," but by "lives turned upside-downfamilies fleeing for their livesbefore their homes were swallowed in flames ... (World Magazine, Nov. 8, 2003).

Our forefathers would have instantly understood these things to be judgments from God:

The Supreme Court let stand a federal judge's ruling that Alabama may not "acknowledge God" by displaying the 10 Commandments (www.judicialforum.org/Roy_Moore.htm ).

American Episcopalians ordained a homosexual bishop as 3000 well-wishers, including his divorced wife and live-in partner (www.washtimes.com/national/20031103-123335-2192r.htm ) looked on.

President Bush hosted his third annual "Iftaar" at the White House. He further gushed praised for a religion that is damning the souls of millions while opening our nation's doors to curses that accompany such occult idolatry (www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/10/20031028-9.html). Yet our President has twice distanced himself from Gen. William Boykin and his truisms about Islam and Christ (www.washtimes.com/national/20031028-113316-6459r.htm ).

17th Century Puritan, Matthew Henry, writes of Psalm 75 and God's rule over kings and nations:

God is the Judge, Magistrates should rule for God as those that must give account to Him In the hand of the Lord there is a cup mixed of many ingredients, a cup of affliction the judgments of God upon sinners The wine is red as fire, red as bloodit burns, it kills vials are poured out upon all Some drops of this wrath may light on good people.they have their share in common calamities; but, the dregs of the cup are reserved for the wicked. The calamity itself is but the vehicle into which the wrath and curse is infused
