Subject: THE BIBLE & THE BUSH “ROAD MAP”

Balak hired Balaam to curse Israel in hopes of driving the Israelites from his land. But God sent an Angel to prevent Balaam. The prophet could not see the Angel though his donkey saw him... When the donkey pulled aside to avoid disaster, Balaam angrily struck him. Defending himself, the beast spoke out loud! Only then were Balaam's eyes opened and he cried, "I have sinned” … Instead of cursing Israel, Balaam boldly prophesied, "God is not a man, that He should lie… Has He said, and will He not do it? ... Has He spoken and will He not make it good? God has blessed, and I cannot reverse it” (Num 22-24 paraphrased).

President Bush has staked his and America’s credibility on the “Road Map.” The Israeli cabinet voted to accept the plan only because of heavy pressure by the Bush Administration, including threats of sanctions against Israel for refusal to comply (see http://216.26.163.62/2003/ss_israel_05_27.html ).

President Bush seems firmly to believe forcing the “Road Map” on Israel will “be good for everyone.” Like Balaam, our President is oblivious both to the evil of the plan and the dangers that lie ahead for America if we insist upon it. This is a miscalculation of Biblical proportions.

Sixteenth Century Reformer, John Calvin, commenting on Numbers 22-24, wrote:

A veil prevented Balaam from seeing what was obvious… If he had really feared God, in pure sincerity of heart, he would have immediately renounced an expedition that was wicked in itself and improperly undertaken… But Balaam was ironically permitted to do what could not be carried out without sin… It was God’s will to prove by the mouth of Balaam how effective and unchangeable was God’s determination as to the adoption of the people of Israel and for His truth and faithfulness to be more conspicuously shown forth.

God’s Will cannot be thwarted and shall be accomplished. Israel will survive with or without our support. But America will not prosper and ultimately will not survive if we abandon God’s Word (Gen 12:2-3; Ps 9:17). Will God remove the veil from our President’s eyes as he did Balaam’s, and “show forth” His “truth more conspicuously?” Or will the evil “Quartet” (U.N., Russia, EU & U.S) prevail in rewarding terrorists and in unjustly compelling Israel further to divide the land given to her by God (Ex 32:13; 2 Chr 20:7; Ps 105:8-11; Is 60:21; Ez 37:25, etc.).

Please Pray with Us:

· Father, OPEN OUR PRESIDENT’S EYES to see You standing in the way, Your drawn sword, perhaps, in hand (Ps 91:all; 119:18; Pr 22:3; 24:11-12; 30:32) .

· HEAR OUR CRIES, Lord, & Grant REPENTANCE. May America remain faithful to our tiny ally & the people of Your Covenant Land. Anoint President Bush – not to err – but to lead a Josiah Revival that brings our nation back to You. In Jesus’ Name, AMEN (Gen 12:2-3; 2 Kg 22:1-23:28; 2 Chr 7:14; Ps 3:4; 15:4; 137:6; Pr 21:1; Is 60:2-3).
